Baldness or hair loss is a common problem many people face. It not only affects adults, but teens as well. People experiencing hair loss have a tendency to worry a lot. After all, in our society, appearance is everything. But hair loss is normal, actually, it’s a natural part of our body’s renewal process. We lose about 50-100 pieces of hair a day. This amount of hair loss is normal. These hairs are replaced and grow back in the same follicle on your head; therefore, there is nothing to worry about.

But what if you are losing more than that? Well, if you have unusual hair loss and don’t have any idea what is causing it, it is recommended that you see your dermatologist. Your dermatologist can tell why your hair if falling out. If needed, your dermatologist can suggest a treatment or product to help you correct your underlying problem.

So, what really are the causes of hair loss? Diseases, stress, use of medicines, hormone imbalance, family history, improper care of hair, and even different hairstyles that we use are the major factors that lead to the problem of hair loss. Radiation, chemotherapy, thyroid disease, and local skin diseases are also included.

Treatments for hair loss are available, depending on the type of your hair loss. If the reason for your hair loss is a medicine, you will be suggested to use a different medicine. If it’s caused by hormone imbalance, correcting it may prevent more hair loss. However, if adequate treatment is not available for your type of hair loss, try some of the many options for disguising hair loss: wigs, hair wraps, or hats. Compared to hair transplants, these alternatives give better cosmetic results at lower costs and with less trouble.

So if you’re not suffering from hair loss and don’t want to experience it in the future, start pampering your hair now. Try to eat a balanced diet because a healthy diet really benefits your hair. If possible, shampoo your hair no more than once a day. If you rub your hair too vigorously with a towel, try to avoid it now. Lastly, be careful when using chemicals on your hair like hair straighteners or hair colors as too much chemicals can really cause hair loss.
